Carers allowance

I got awarded this together with a nice back payment early last year. Then they stopped it because my widowed parents allowance basicaly cancelled it out! They didnt try and make me pay it back because it was their error, they had ALL the information about my widows pension but still messed up.

DOES YOUR CHILD, OR A CHILD YOU CARE FOR, HAVE A NEURODEVELOPMENTAL DISORDER? E.g. ADHD, autistic spectrum disorders, Down’s syndrome, learning disabilities, dyslexia, dyspraxia, language impairment, cerebral palsy, rare genetic condition, brain tumour, brain injury, encephalitis or another neurodevelopmental disorder not specified.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Cerebra has been commissioned to write an information booklet on neurodevelopmental disorders which will form part of the ‘Early Support’ programme, a government initiative managed by the Department for Children Schools and Families (DCSF) and part of the Aiming High for Disabled Children programme. The aim of the booklet is to raise awareness of neurological disorders and provide a high calibre information source for parents and other interested individuals and organisations. We are looking for comments on the proposed content of the booklet as well as your valuable insight into what it’s really like to care for a child with a neurodevelopmental condition.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Cerebra is redesigning our children’s corner and web pages, and over the coming months will be re-launching the club with a new look and facilities for use by your child and their siblings.

Current plans for the site include: a range of online games, jokes, puzzles, general information and competitions. This area can be found at http://www.cerebra.org.uk:81/Kidz/.

We want to make the club as interactive as possible. In addition to the website we will be sending out quarterly newsletters and activity books for your child to work through and colour. They will also receive birthday cards and presents every year until their 16^th Birthday and Christmas cards and presents each year.

However to fully achieve our vision for this new club, we are asking if parents/guardians if they would like to sign their child up to join the Children’s Corner. We encourage all children to participate in this new club. If your child has a sibling who you feel would enjoy being part of the club please inform us, and provide us with their details, in addition to the details of your registered child. Carer's Week

Hi all hope you are all well

I was just wondering if you have any events running in your own areas celebrating and supporting Carer's week??

There was some Minister on TV this morning talking about all the government does for carers, hubby said he loves a good laugh early in the morning.

What got me was when he was asked about the "Loads" of money us carers get ......... (not), he said that carers have a choice whether they do the caring bit or not, well I nearly fell of the chair!!! not sure if it was with laughter or anger.

Love and caring for our love ones is not a choice, It Just is.

DLA renewal

My daughter was awarded DLA backdated to march 2009. High Rate Care and Low Rate mobility, it was awarded for 12 months and I am already dreading completeing the paperwork again, it took me about 5 weeks to complete as it upset me so much writing about all her problems. Can anyone tell me when I will get the renewal forms and whether they will be the same as the initial application and whether this is something i will have to complete every 12 months?

Motability - Question about insurance - Special Needs Car Seat

We are due to receive a car under the motability scheme. I have heard that the Insurance offered as part of the scheme whilst being very good, may not cover us for personnal belongings in the car?

We have a special seat for our daughter - would this be covered under the insurance ? It is removable - but not practical to be removed and reinstalled on a daily basis at all.

Would we need to take out 'extra' insurance to cover the seat in case of theft from vehicle?

Hi,

I got an email from admin asking to join the Cerebra forum(at least I think that's what it meant!).

I have taken a look but cannot find any posts or a discussion board is this a new idea, or has it been running for a while? Maybe someone could let me know in case I have got it wrong.

It would be great if there is going to be a forum, as I like the way information is shared on them.
